The early history of the Raceland Presbyterian Church is the story of the patient and tireless pioneering by Rev. and Mrs. Edward A. Ford. Having served some 30 years in the Belgian Congo, the Fords, with two children, were sent to Southern Bayou Lafourche in 1923 where Protestantism was little known.
Some sixty miles of often muddy and frequently impassible roads, the Ford family held church services and prayer meetings at each others homes. November 13th, 1932, the Raceland Presbyterian Church was dedicated.
